Denmark Shore Power Project
Denmark has committed to climate-neutral shipping by 2050 and recently inaugurated Europe’s largest onshore power facility at Copenhagen Malmö Port, supplying shore power to around 300 cruise ships a year and cutting an estimated 17,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. Beyond cruise terminals, Denmark’s fishing sector is also electrifying: the Port of Skagen, the country’s largest fishing port, has introduced shore-based electricity for pelagic vessel unloading to cut reliance on diesel generators during landings.
With a national climate-neutral shipping target for 2050 and Europe’s largest onshore power facility already operating at Copenhagen Malmö Port, Denmark is treating shore power as core infrastructure across both cruise and fishing-fleet segments, not a niche pilot technology.
AURALIS has supplied multiple 800kVA shore power units to Danish port installations supporting this shift.
