Middle East Off-Grid Storage Project

The Gulf region is building some of the world’s largest off-grid renewable power systems to serve remote sites with no practical utility grid connection. In Saudi Arabia, a Red Sea tourism development recently brought online what has been described as the world’s largest solar-storage microgrid — a 358 MWac solar plant paired with a 1.2 GWh battery system supplying an entire isolated utility network. More broadly, off-grid power system demand across the UAE and wider Gulf is projected to keep growing through the early 2030s as remote industrial, tourism, and desalination sites are built without waiting for grid extension.

Market Context

Giga-scale off-grid microgrid projects in Saudi Arabia and steady off-grid power system market growth across the Gulf reflect a regional pattern: remote sites are built with self-sufficient power from day one rather than waiting years for grid extension — a pattern that applies at much smaller scale to industrial and remote commercial sites across the region as well.

AURALIS has supplied multiple BNSA industrial DC-AC inverter units to remote sites across the Middle East, providing stable power independent of grid connection.
